During
the conference, the KMHCA held a meeting. Dr. Angelia
Bryant, KMHCA President informed everyone of the state
of the Association including over 350 participants
at the Spring Counselor Conference in Somerset.
She
also discussed a membership directory that is to be
published at a future date. Regional chapter then
gave individual reports. John LaRusch reported that
the SCKMHCA has 49 members and is continuing to host
educational opportunities with FREE CEU opportunities
bi-monthly.
Because
of the hard work and dedication by both the Green
River and South-Central Chapters, the KMHCA rewarded
both groups with a $200 check for the work they had
done this past year to help promote the profession.
Accepting a check from Dr. Angelia Bryant, John LaRusch
cordially thanked all the members of the SCKMHCA for
helping to make this organization's successful beginning.
Dr.
John Rigney, Executive Director of the KMHCA, reported
that Governor Fletcher is signing a bill this year,
so that this will be the second year of Mental Health
Awareness. He also reported that he is working to
help get Medicaid coverage for LPCCs. There are other
issues that are also being worked on. He stated that
Kentucky mental health couselors must continue to
fight to bring better mental health benefits to the
people of this great state.
