December Meeting Minutes

SCKMHCA President, Freda Tiller, welcomed everyone. Special thanks to Mr. George Mike Girdler for presenting on Holiday Stress and ways to avoid the stress.

After the presentation, President Tiller called the meeting to order. It was discovered that the minutes from the October meeting had not been completed but would be reviewed at the February meeting.

At the December meeting, President Tiller reported that she had attended a free Play Therapy training sponsored by Phoenix Preferred Care, Somerset Mental Health, Intrust Health Care, Children and Family Counseling Association and the Kentucky Psychological Association It was well attended and was a quality event. There are plans for other trainings scheduled throughout the upcoming year. The training will be offered three times per year.

There has been some trouble with the website. Seems that it is time for renewal but that should be taken care of within the next two weeks. Vote was taken to continue to use the same provider who has been helping with the website but to update of the information on the site. President Tiller will be submitting new information soon.

Debra Rodgers has volunteered and will assuming the production of the newsletter in 2008. She will be responsible for publishing the newsletter and for making sure it is updated to the website beginning in April 2008. Please direct any and all information you wish to be added to her. Individuals who would like to have a mailed copy of the newsletter should contact President@sckmhca.org and submit a request in writing.

President Tiller reported that there were 14 new members! Jillian Tauffener stated that renewals are down, and everyone needs to be contacted about paying their dues. The membership roster is not up-to-date and Adam will be have an updated one by the next meeting. SCKMHCA will have a booth at KMHCA Conference. We will also be doing a silent auction. Volunteer are needed. Kim Reynolds volunteered to sit at the table.

Treasurer's report was given by Jillian Tauffener. The current balance is $150.74. However, fees for the website will expend the account. Therefore, President Tiller is writing a letter to the President of the KMHCA to ask for a grant to cover the cost of maintaining the website. It was agreed by the membership to go ahead and pay the fee. With the money deposited from the new memberships, there will be enough to go ahead and pay the fee.

John LaRusch gave a quick update on the happenings in Frankfort . With the transition of the new governor, the Medicaid Commissioner position is still up in the air. There are many revisions being contemplated regarding behavioral support services and mental health assessments. More reports will available at the February meeting.

The next meeting will be February 12, 2008 .

After other general discussion, the meeting was then adjourned. Following the meeting the annual Christmas party and gift exchange was tremendous fun.
